The Twilight/Puke Zone

I'm slowly walking out of the zombie and vomit-filled last couple of days. First one child and then the other would erupt...thankfully never at the same time. My stomach has had a dull ache to it over the last week to top it all off. Being dehydrated just made my son belligerent, if I told him red was red, he would yell and scream at me until I agreed that red was green. Yeesh!

All that to say, I've been a bitch to my family the last 3 days. I didn't handle this round of upchuck well at all. Luckily, it's ending just in time for me to leave for my Scrapbooking weekend...where I don't scrapbook. Ten of my friends decided to rent this tricked out lodge in the Colorado mountains for them to do some hard core scrapbooking (the lodge has all the equipment included). I was asked to do it last year because they like me and we are all doing it again. So, while everyone else is hard at work creating awesome pages, I sit on my butt, tend the woodburning fireplace, sleep, take a bath, play guitar, read and eat fricking awesome food!

I will probably be incognito starting late tomorrow, but I am bringing the old laptop with me to see if I can piggy back onto someone's internet.

BTW, how many different words for barf did I use in this post? Anyone, anyone, Bueller?

Amazingly you only used four words (if you count erupt) for puke--which is my least favorite word for blowing chunks. Which is also a bad one. I too am going away to a crafting type retreat. No fireplace, I will make something and we too will have yummy-licious foods. Have an awesome time, lady.

The "565" on your blog is simply a template #. Kinda dumb! If you look on your main header, there is a huge "565" plus some other undecipherable text behind the title "Young Mom in the Big World". You can get rid of this stuff if you wish...

To Remove the Print Behind the Title:
1. go to your dashboard and click on the "Layout" for your blog
2. click on "Edit HTML"
3. scroll down in the template box until you come to this:

/* Header
---------------------------- */

4. Scroll down just a bit further until you come to this:

#header h1 {
background:url("http://www.blogblog.com/no565/bg_header.gif") no-repeat left top;

5. delete the http address leaving just the quotation marks. That line should now look like this:

#header h1 {
background:url("") no-repeat left top;

6.Click the Blue Preview button at the bottom of the screen to check that you did the right thing before you save your changes. Has the strange stuff from behind your blog title disappeared? BRAVO! Save your changes.

Now for the small "565" ...
1. Find the spot in your template that looks like this:

/* Posts
----------------------------- */

2. This time scroll back UP BEFORE this spot to find what you need ...

#header .description span {
/* To remove the word next to the description, delete the following background property */ background:url("http://www.blogblog.com/no565/temp_no.gif") no-repeat left center;

3. Go to that http part and delete it between the quotation marks just like the last time!
4. PREVIEW the blog ... is the fussy number gone? Yah! High 5! Save yer work and be a happy blogger!

IMPORTANT itty-bitty-tippy:
When you preview your work, if you don't see the change you expect, click the blue "clear edits" button pronto and start again! Don't click SAVE TEMPLATE until you are SURE you did it right! Sweaty palms? Ach! Chill out! Ya won't lose any posts over this! The worst that could happen is that you will simply need to go back up to the top of the page and click the "Choose New Template" link and from there reload the same template you started with. That will NOT wipe out a single post and also shouldn't disturb the stuff in your sidebar.

ONE MORE THING:
Of course, the other option to all of the above is to

1.click on your Page Elements page,
2.click on the "Header" "Edit"
3.click on "browse" to find a picture on your computer
4.after you select the picture, click OPEN
5. IMPORTANT: Select "Instead of title and description"
6. Click Save changes and view your blog. (this one you can't preview but it is easy to go back and edit the header and delete everything!)

NOTE: If you want the picture to completely fill the width of the top of your blog, just make sure that you have "resized it" or cropped it to 744px wide. If your header is more than 400px in height you may find it looks too big! But the 744 across is usually a good idea to make it look professional!

Professional? Yessir! Now you are a pro at blog design!

I see when I published my comment that the long lines copied from the blog template were cut off.

Don't be frightened by that! Just find the place in the template and delete the complete http:// (etc) from between the quotation marks!

Actually, for extra fun ... you notice the http:// stuff is just a web address. why don't you copy it and paste it into your browser and look it up just like you would look up a blogspot address! You will see all it is is the url for the picture you want to delete! Kinda cool, eh? Yeah, I know, I'm a Canadian -- ya guessed it, eh?

Thanks masked Blog template fixer! I'm going to have to try and fix that this weekend :0)

Aha, BBm'Qui! You shall have fun, I do surely predict!

I just sent this little link to someone else and immediately thought of following up yesterday's notes with it to you too. Some people snorf out an arm and a leg for expensive photo and art programs or else they make-do with rinky-dinky starter kits that come with their computer.

Good News! You have another option! Absolutely free download:
PhotoFiltre.

In that program you can resize and crop pictures as well as creating interesting effects and frames.

If you have never used a photo-editing program, it can be confusing to know the 1-2-3 of how to get going. I do have an email in my archives giving some start-up pointers for it if you need it. I really have no idea how savvy you are with these things!
